Bus Safety Week

This week is School Bus Safety Week: 10/17/11 to 10/21/11. We had an assembly Tuesday morning where our bus drivers explained bus safety. For example, when getting on the bus and need to cross the road wait until the bus driver waves you across.  Another reminder for the students was to stay seated properly and keep your feet out of the walkway.  Another thing the drivers asked the students was to remind their parents about speeding in and out of the school parking lot.  Drivers need to watch for young kids crossing.  We also practiced the bus evacuation just in case there was an accident, and how to call for help using the GPS trackers.

Annuals for Sale

Annuals are now for sale in the office. These are from the 2010 - 2011 school year.  This year we have 3 options for purchase.  The first option is a black and white inside with a color cover.  This is our least expensive option at $5 each.  The next two options offer full color with different binding options.  One option has a spiral binding and the other is stapled. Both all color options are $20 a piece.  We are taking pre orders in the office through the second week of November.  If you have any other questions please contact the school.

Student of the Month

The Student of the Month for this month is for K-2 is Emily Hasting. She is a young lady who has a positive attitude about her learning and is working very hard to improve academically. For 3-5 is Bella Couch. She is always a positive student and friend. She’s enthusiastic, curious learner who always participates fully and is quick to help others. For middle school is Whitney Feller. She shows enthusiasm for learning and participated well in class. Classroom teachers have been impressed with her positive attitude and willingness to participate in class and returns homework on time. The High School Student of the Month is Perry Wasgatt. He takes his own personal time to volunteer to help teachers here at school. This student is in charge of many things such as the leadership blog, President of the Senior Class, and volunteers with the GEARUP program.

Interview With Tom Anderson

1.       What did you do before you worked here?

Answer: ran own construction business for 16 years and worked in engineering.

2.       Why did you choose to teach here?

Answer:  became aware of the opportunity.

3.       Why did you choose to teach shop?

Answer:  He had the skills, his father was a shop teacher and he doesn’t like the fact that some schools don’t have shop class because hands on learning is important.

4.       Do you live in Glenwood?

Answer: No

5.       What classes are you offering?

Answer: Design, Wood Working, Applied Tech, General shop and P.E

6.       What classes do you wish to offer in the future?

Answer: More advanced wood working and middle school wood working and expand general shop.

7.       Do you have any pets?

Answer: Yes, 2 Dogs and horses

8.       What is your favorite color?

Answer: Black
